Carlos Alcaraz, the Spanish tennis star, had a remarkable 2025 season, ending it with a 71-9 record, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. On November 16, 2025, he faced his great rival, Jannik Sinner, at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin. Despite losing the final, Alcaraz was impressed by Sinner's performance and his ability to adapt to indoor tennis.
Alcaraz, who had beaten Sinner at the US Open final in September, acknowledged the Italian's resilience. He said, 'I felt the improvements of Jannik. I think a player like him always comes back stronger from losses. He always learns from them.'
The match was a tight affair, with Alcaraz receiving a medical timeout for a hamstring issue in the opening set. However, he assured that the problem didn't affect his play, and he continued to perform well.
In the second set, Alcaraz increased his aggression and moved forward more frequently, gaining a break advantage. However, Sinner responded with authority, turning the tide and securing the victory.
Alcaraz's tactical adjustments were evident, as he said, 'I changed my plan because I felt I had to do something else. I'm trying to be as aggressive as I can on court every match, especially against Jannik.'
Despite the loss, Alcaraz's season was a success, with him claiming a Tour-leading eight titles in 2025, including majors at Roland Garros and the US Open, and ATP Masters 1000 crowns in Monte-Carlo, Rome, and Cincinnati. He is now set to conclude his season at the Davis Cup Finals next week.
