Kourtney Kardashian Says She Holds Son Rocky for Entirety of His 3-5 Hour Naps
Kourtney Kardashian is putting her parenting duties first.
Because when it comes to raising her and Travis Barker’s 18-month-old son Rocky Barker, the Kardashians star made it clear she would do whatever it takes to nurture her baby boy in a way that fosters a strong emotional bond.
“With attachment-style parenting, I hold him for his naps the whole time,” Kourtney told her sister Khloe Kardashian during a May 21 episode of her Khloe in Wonderland podcast. “He’s 23 pounds.”
“I’ll sit in our little chair in the room,” she continued. “I still have my little breastfeeding pillow and then he’ll lay on there, but my arm’s under, and then I have a little radiation blanket that I put over to protect from EMF from phone use.”
Adding that she will, on occasion, hold Rocky for up to five hours at a time, Kourtney—who is also mom to Mason Disick, 15, Penelope Disick, 12, and Reign Disick, 10, with ex Scott Disick—also shared insight into why she opts for such a nurturing parenting style.
“I think it’s really not separating for as much as possible in the first definitely three years,” she explained. “It really helps nurture their attachment—secure attachment.”
“It’s kind of just what my instincts—I lean towards,” she added. “It’s what they tell me to do, I feel like. Just my motherly instincts. Mother knows best.”
And while Kourtney recalled exploring a few of these tactics back when Penelope was born, she still noticed a few things were different time around. After all, it had been nine years since the 46-year-old last experienced what it was like to raise a newborn.
“I’ve always shared a bed with the other kids,” the Poosh founder recounted, “but we share a room with Rocky.”
And compared to Khloe—who shares kids True Thompson, 6, and Tatum Thompson, 2, with ex Tristan Thompson—Kourtney deemed herself quite a free-spirited mom.

“You are very scheduled and planned out throughout the whole day,” Kourtney quipped to her sister, noting that she and the Blink-182 drummer—who is also dad to Landon Barker, 21, Alabama Barker, 19, and stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya, 2, with ex-wife Shanna Moakler—take the opposite approach. “We have a general time—definitely as babies, we had no schedule—Rocky doesn’t really have a schedule.”
But when it comes to how she reacts when her kids are feeling under the weather, Kourtney finds herself wanting to go against the status quo.
“I think living authentically is not conforming, to whatever it is,” she said. “I will like nurse the fever of my kids versus giving Tylenol or ibuprofen. I just want to do that.”
“Once I started therapy, I kind of started challenging the ways we did things sometimes, the way we all functioned,” she added. “I love to just go against the grain.”
